スイスが銅メダル獲得

After the game Switzerland skip Peter de Cruz said, “We have
mixed feelings. We had a bit of a rough start because we were
still on yesterday’s game. Even this morning, we were still
talking about the semi-final. We’re disappointed about that,
but we’re happy to go home with medals round our necks.”
He took the time to praise his opponents too, saying, “
I feel for Japan, they had such a good game, one bad end
and everything changes. In that end we knew we had a chance
for three or four and we just were able to force them into
some errors and we capitalised. Benoit came up trumps, he
always does in such moments.”
More generally he wistfully added, “This is our third bronze
at Worlds. We have two in the Europeans and one in the Olympics
now, so we’re kind of sick of bronze medals, but we’re
still happy. But we wish we could play in that gold medal game.”
Meanwhile this was a second world championship fourth placed
finish for Japan, with third player Testuro Shimizu competing in both.

昨日の負け試合を引きずってたからね。今朝でもまだ
昨日の準決勝の内容について話をしていたんだ。準決勝で

かけて家に帰ることができるんだから。」
さらに彼は、相手の日本チームを称賛することに時間をついやした。
「日本チームの気持ちを察するよ（同情するよ）。あんなに
良い試合をしたのに、一つのバッドエンドですべてが変わって
しまったんだから。試合が終わってみると、自分たちは3、4点
とれるエンドがもっとあったと思う。でも自分たちがちょっとした
エラーをするように仕向けられて、そこにつけこまれたよ。
ブノア（シュワルツ）が切り札（頼みの綱）だった。
苦しい場面で、彼はいつもやってくれるよ。」
穏やかだが、物欲しそうにペーター デ クルスは付け加えた。
「自分たちにとって世界選手権でで3度目の銅メダルだよ。
ヨーロッパ選手権では2度、オリンピックでは1度とってる。
まさにある種の”銅メダル病”だね。でもやっぱり
（メダルがとれて）うれしいよ。でもでもやっぱり
決勝戦で戦うことができてればどんなにかよかっただろう。」
一方日本チームにとってはこれが世界選手権での2度目の4位に
なる。サードのシミズ　テツロウはその2度で試合を
戦ったのだ。
