This email is to bring you up-to-date on some recent changes that impact your OANDA foreign exchange trading account. The first change is an adjustment to the Sunday opening time from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm Eastern (New York) time. The new opening time will take effect Sunday, February 10th, 2013.
In addition, we have updated our margin rules. Currently, when an account falls below margin requirements, OANDA sends daily emails at 4 pm Eastern (New York) time to the account holder, notifying that their fxTrade account is under-margined. If an account remains under-margined for seven (7) consecutive trading days, all tradable open positions in the account are automatically closed at the current fxTrade rate starting at 4 pm. Any remaining open positions will automatically close at the current fxTrade rate when the markets for those instruments re-open.
Starting February 10th, 2013, Sundays will no longer be included when determining the number of consecutive days an account remains under-margined.
Please be advised that an immediate margin closeout will continue to occur when the Margin Closeout Value declines to half, or less than half, of the Margin Used.
For more information on these changes, or for any other questions or concerns, please contact a member of the OANDA Client Experience team.
Kind regards;
